The only available engine is a 2. Have been told this is acceptable as we now have a heavy duty diff.. After 10 reliable years with a Sportage I thought this would be the bigger brother and better built. Problem is that it is technically now out of warranty by km but not by time.

By markbray , November 6, in Terracan Technical. Dealer sent to transmission specialist, pulled transfer case apart, no problems in transfer case, he does not know whats wrong with it. Might not be the same thing but mine does it on a steep driveway. What I need to do is lock it in 1st gear [auto] and it's fine, otherwise it looses drive for a few seconds as though it's hunting for a gear or something.

I've found that the drive to my rear axle has always been a bit vague. I'm always surprised at how much transmission 'slip' there seems to be whenever I accelerate. Takes the gearbox longer than I think is normal to get the engine revs and the rear axle in sync, longer than other autos I've owned and driven anyway. As it is still in warranty, I would be dropping into your dealer and suggesting he either find a problem and fix it, or replace the transmission if he cant, it is up to hyundai to fix it If the problem first started and was brought to the attention of the dealer before the warranty expired you may have a remedy.

The problem may also be with the computer which controls the transmission rather than the transmission The auto I lead to believe is an Aisin Maybe it is electrical. I had a odd problem with my Auto loosing power in reverse when it got to a faster pace. The Auto seemed to drop into neutral As soon as it slowed the Auto would reengage reverse again, speed up and it would drop out, very odd.

It took hyundai 2 days to find the fault, a blown reversing lights fuse. A hint was the Auto selector lights on the dash where out, also could not select low range. Who would of guessed it's the reversing lights fuse You're fault looks more serious but it's worth a check of the fuses.

Hey Jarrod that rings a bell for me I seem to recall something like that scenario being posted in the past. Seems like you might do yourself a favour finding if that fuse is blown. Do the reversing lights work? Start with fuse 19 10A Back-up lamp, Inside mirror, Transaxle range switch then try the following:. Does the engine still rev up and down, but you don't go anywhere? I had the problem with the blown reverse light fuse last year and in 06 too where the vehicle was going in to limp home mode.

Would not hold in 1st gear and could not engage 4L from 4H. They thought the problem could be low voltage in the trans range selector but they ended up removing both set of rear lights and repositioning the wiring harnesses which they thought was pinching and blowing the reverse lights.
